Collection: Les Canebiers

A true Tropezian creative house drawing all its authenticity and inspiration from the history of the village.

We are in the 1950s, Saint-Tropez is rediscovered by the biggest names in cinema and painting: Françoise Sagan, Jacques Prévert and Pablo Picasso. They travel from Paris for the summer holidays to this small fishing port, seduced intellectuals in search of sun, relaxation and Mediterranean authenticity. You can see Juliette Gréco, Boris Vian or the writer Colette, a great lover of Saint-Tropez who settled in the Baie des Canebiers. In summer, the cafes of Saint-Germain-des-Près in Paris are deserted and followers of Jean-Paul Sartre's existentialism prefer Saint-Tropez. The small streets leading down to the port are full of fashion stores. The beach road is still lined, as it was fifty years ago, with olive fields, Florentine pines and vineyards. The painter Signac would not see any change...

La Madrague became the headquarters of the jet-set of that time, the biggest names in cinema and music rubbed shoulders there: Delon, Belmondo, Sacha Distel, Gunter Sachs. Saint-Tropez is a small fishing port which became famous in the 1950s thanks to numerous artists, writers and hedonists who appreciated its shaded gardens and the magnificent golden sand beach of Pampelonne.

We travel in a 2CV, we anchor our yacht off the coast of Pampelonne Bay for lunch at Club 55, tasting sardines accompanied by the boss' rosé wine. The rich and the less rich are all gathered on the private beaches of Pampelonne, as well as the most beautiful women in the world. Les Canebiers, a Tropezian creative house, where the authenticity of the village is reborn in the heart of the village.
